My History
I have always had an interest in working in the dog world. When I was young I  wanted to be a veterinarian. However, life did not take me in that direction. So in 1988 I attended the Wisconsin School Of Professional Pet Grooming. After graduating, I owned and operated a grooming facility for 5 years. I groomed 6-8 dogs per day and enjoyed it immensely. Once again life had a different plan for me. Having children changed my way of life. In 1991, I began working for a manufacturing facility.  I was employed with them for sixteen years until 2006.

In 2006 my husband suggested we move to Ohio for an employment opportunity. So we packed up and made the move to Waynesville, Ohio from Wisconsin.

Oakes Pet Care is Born
Moving to Ohio has now allowed me the opportunity to work with animals again. My passion for grooming has lessened however my love of animals has not.  Therefore, I have redirected my focus towards pet sitting. There is no better job than working and playing with animals all day, every day.
Thus, Oakes Pet Care is Born!!

 I am actually a big kid trapped inside a grown woman's body. If you were to follow me through my day. You will see me on the floor 90% of the time, either playing tug of war with your dog or scratching his belly. You will also see me playing with your cat with her favorite toys. When the weather is nice and sometimes even when its not you can find me throwing a ball or a frisbee in the yard. Playing and making your pet happy is the greatest part of my day.

I continue to try to give the client more than what he pays for. Anyone can walk your dog. But do they train him along the way? Any friend or neighbor or pet sitter can let the dog out in the afternoon. But is the dog getting the most out of  his afternoon visit with them? Is he being spoken to in a kind friendly voice and being played with after he has performed  his afternoon task? If not, your using the wrong service.

What Makes Me Different
*I never enter your home with a handful of treats ready to bribe your pet. I walk in and let the pet take his time to meet me. I allow him to sniff and get a feel of who I am.
* I never get down to his level, speak in a high voice or reach out to him. It is his choice to accept me or not. It is after all his home and I AM a guest. 
*I never bring treats to your pet visits because your dog could have allergies to certain foods. He could vomit or get diarrhea from things he is not accustom to. Our goal is to maintain his routine not upset his world. I therefore serve only treats and foods that you supply.
* I always stay with your pet for the full scheduled time.
* I will never answer my phone or conduct business while visiting your pet.

Letting the dog out in the afternoon or walking your dog is the vehicle I use to allow myself to be with your dog. Playing with him and making him feel less alone during the day is my true service.
